  If you're coming from Sevierville it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in North Carolina are often easier than in other states, so keep in mind that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way
    there are lots of good rivers for that around here. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. Whitewater paddling here in the Great Smoky Mountains is a great experience. There are many good hotels to
choose from, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This section of Tuckasegee River in North Carolina is 8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-III section. There's camping available near Tuckasegee River. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The scenic beauty of Jackson/Swain County and the cool fresh water attract people from near  
and far. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came.

Briefly about the general area:
The Wesser Creek Trail is a delightful hiking trail close to Tuckasegee River, and the great folks of Bryson City like to hang out nearby. And that's not all there is to do here in the Great Smoky Mountains. If the weather is delightful here at Tuckasegee River, you can go for a hike along the Tsali Horse Trail, and Battle Cove is a glorious location to spend some time. A river like this is too good to miss. Through the summer here at Tuckasegee River, high temperatures mostly get into the 80's.
