  The SR 1557 to North Carolina 105 section of Watauga River in North Carolina is 2 miles long and it is classified as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. The average North Carolina whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that
    rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The nature scenery of Watauga County and the sparkling of the sunlight
on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. No shortage of good hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. The SR 1557 to North Carolina 105 section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. This is a bit of a short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the  
great campgrounds nearby.

Briefly about the general area:
On a splendid day at Watauga River you can take a hike along the Daniel Boone Scout Trail, and close by Young Hollow is a good spot to go. There is a delightful hiking trail next to Watauga River called the Yancey Ridge Trail, and a day on the slopes of Appalachian Mountain is just what you need. This is such a great river. If you're dropping by Watauga River from Boone, you won't be the only one. For the period of the warm days of summer, highs mostly are in the 70's at Watauga River, and the overnight is a little colder of course, typically in the 50's.
