Briefly about the general area: On a splendid day at Watauga River you can take a hike along the Daniel Boone Scout Trail, and close by Young Hollow is a good spot to go. There is a delightful
hiking trail next to Watauga River called the Yancey Ridge Trail, and a day on the slopes of Appalachian Mountain is just what you need. This is such a great river. If you're dropping by Watauga River from Boone, you won't
be the only one. For the period of the warm days of summer, highs mostly are in the 70's at Watauga River, and the overnight is a little colder of course, typically in the 50's.
