This is a short paddling stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Briefly about the general area: You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Hawksnest since you're here. Near Wilson Creek you hit upon the Yancey Ridge Trail which is a great hiking trail; Wilson Creek is not far at all from Collettsville. This river is so perfect. Going for a hike on the Daniel Boone Scout Trail is always a perfect adventure. At Wilson Creek through the months of summer highs are in the 70's, and the night is a tad cooler of course, commonly in the 50's.
