The natural beauty of North Carolina and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in North Carolina are often more forgiving than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers     in this state are suitable for beginners. The campgrounds here at Wilson Creek are pretty good. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. Briefly about the general area: While you're here at Wilson Creek you will meet lots of folks from nearby Collettsville. Going to Lake James State Park in the neighborhood of Wilson Creek is a glorious thing to do, and there are good places to look at along the Yancey Ridge Trail. This river is a great place to visit. Go for a hike on the Daniel Boone Scout Trail. For the period of the summer, highs mostly are in the 70's at Wilson Creek, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's.
