The natural beauty of Yadkin County and the cool fresh water beats anything. This section     of Yadkin River in Yadkin County is 35 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. Getting your paddling muscles activated   and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. Briefly about the general area: You'll meet a lot of folks from Siloam here; a visit to Pilot Mountain State Park when you're here is never a bad idea. All the water falling down from the sky makes Yadkin River a wet spot. August is the wettest month with most rain while November is the month with the least amount of precipitation. For the duration of the warm months at Yadkin River highs are regularly in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's. Highs throughout the winter are regularly in the 40's with temperatures at Yadkin River dipping down into the 20's throughout winter nights.
