If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Ohio you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. If you're coming from Akron it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road     map further down the page. There's camping available near Cuyahoga River. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. This is a very short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. Briefly about the general area: Cuyahoga River is not   far at all from Cuyahoga Falls; Portage Lakes State Park is a wonderful site to stretch your legs a bit. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Boston Mills is near Cuyahoga River. Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area is a good national park; spots like Tinker's Creek State Park are tremendous to pop by. Beaches are pleasant; and Turkeyfoot Beach near Cuyahoga River is no exception. Cuyahoga River gets a typical amount of annual rainfall. The wettest month of the year is mostly May, that's the one that rains the most; January is when it's the driest. At Cuyahoga River during the long summer days highs are in the 80's.
