  If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The scenic beauty of Ashtabula County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. This section of Grand River in Ohio is 8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. Since you're
    on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before
you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. If you're coming from Ashtabula it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle,  
it's good length for a morning trip. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.

Briefly about the general area:
During your spree to Grand River you'll meet some folks from Madison for sure. Going to Geneva State Park close to Grand River is a great thing to do. For the period of the days of summer at Grand River highs are typically in the 80's, and the nighttime is somewhat cooler of course, typically in the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows through the winter for Grand River tend to be in the 10's. Grand River is a good place of typical rain.
