  This section of Rattlesnake Creek in Highland County is 3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II(IV) section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Ohio are easier than the national norm, so better not forget that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. The natural beauty of Highland County and the cool fresh water have people coming here. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has
    a pretty small number of paddling rivers. The starting point is not too far from Washington, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. There are a few other sections in this river system
that can be paddled as well. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. This is a bit of a short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.

The wonderful people of Leesburg like to hang out nearby; Rocky Fork State Park is a fine place to stretch your legs a bit. Don't leave Rattlesnake Creek without first going for a hike along the Deer Loop Trail. Places like Paint Creek State Park are magnificent to stop at; glorious hiking is available along the Paw Paw Trail. The yearly rain here at Rattlesnake Creek is about average. Of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is January. For the period of the warm months, highs typically are in the 80's at Rattlesnake Creek with overnight lows in the 60's.
