The beautiful scenery of Brown County and the cool fresh water beats anything. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. The campgrounds here at Straight Creek are pretty     good. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Maysville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Briefly about the general area: This is a popular location for   people from Georgetown. The warmest time of the year at Straight Creek arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Straight Creek fall into the 10's. Straight Creek frequently gets much rainfall. Throughout March this area sees the most rain, and January is when it's the driest.
