The Middle stretch of Vermilion River is 8 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I(II) section. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Sandusky, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. | in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The wonderful Ohio scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Vermilion River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Briefly about the general area: A day at Nickel Plate Beach close to Vermilion River is time well spent; there are plenty of folks from Birmingham here. Beaches
are perfect; and Main Street Beach near Vermilion River is no exception; Findley State Park is a delightful place to stop by on a gorgeous day. This is such a great river. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the
80's to Vermilion River. Summer night lows descend down to the 60's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Vermilion River are in the 10's.
