set. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Weyerhauser Road 28000 to Broken Bow Lake section is one of them. When you're paddling down a Ouachita Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery
| along the way too. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. This section of Buffalo Creek is 11 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your sleeping bag. | |

If you're coming from Fort Smith it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. There's camping available near Buffalo Creek.
Briefly about the general area:
Don't leave Buffalo Creek without first going for a hike along the Boktuklo Trail, and there are plenty of people from Watson here. You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the
Ouachita Mountains. There's good hiking along the Beaver Lodge Nature Trail. Summertime highs at Buffalo Creek mostly tend to be in the 90's. Summer night lows fall down to the 60's.
