The Cleator Bend Campground to Detroit Lake stretch of Breitenbush River in Oregon is 8.2 miles long and is a class IV section of whitewater according     to American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Hood River, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. When you're paddling down a Central Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. There aren’t any hotels right   nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike along the Fox Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. A journey to Detroit Lake State Park when you're here at Breitenbush River is never a bad idea; while you're here you can take a hike along the Humbug Ridge Trail. Coming to this river is always a good idea. Breitenbush River is not far at all from Idanha, and Detroit Lake State Park is a tremendous spot to have a look at on a pretty day.
