Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. The wonderful Lane County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you're coming |
from Eugene-Springfield it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this
| general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Champion Creek to Cedar Creek Campground section is one of them. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The Champion Creek to Cedar Creek Campground stretch of Brice Creek is 5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. This stretch has has enough mileage, you | |
|
can easily run it on an afternoon. The wild scenery of the Central Cascade Range is great. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come.
Briefly about the general area:
There is a wonderful hiking trail close to Brice Creek called the Steamboat Trail; you certainly must stop by Fall Creek State Park since you're here. And if that's not sufficient there's heaps more entertaining things to
do in the Central Cascade Range. Near Brice Creek you hit upon the Mayflower Trail which is a delightful hiking trail, and Brice Creek is a location with many visitors from Culp Creek.
