The put-in location is a short drive from Albany-Lebanon, as you can see on the road map further down. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Oregon are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The beautiful Central Cascade Range scenery is an added     bonus. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This section of Canal Creek in Oregon is 1.2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V section. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a very short section so better   bring some good walking shoes. Briefly about the general area: Everybody loves Cascadia State Park, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Chimney Peak Trail. Having a good time in the Central Cascade Range is simple. Detroit Lake State Park is worth taking a look at if you're at Canal Creek, and Dry Gulch is another great spot to stop at close by. This river is a wonderful place to visit. Here at Canal Creek you'll most likely meet some folks from Gates; hiking is a popular thing to do around Canal Creek; Minniece Point Trail is a splendid local trail. A great deal of rain falls at Canal Creek.
