The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Albany-Lebanon, as you can see on the road map further down. The beautiful Central     Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. The wonderful Oregon scenery and the cool fresh water have people coming here. There are campgrounds   quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike on the Dead Mountain Trail is always a fine adventure. A great spot like Willamette National Forest in the vicinity of Christy Creek is too tremendous to leave out, and Salt Springs is a delightful site to explore while you're at Christy Creek. A river like this is too good to miss. Near Christy Creek you come across the Roosevelt Way which is a perfect hiking trail. Christy Creek sees pretty high levels of rainfall. The wettest month of the year is usually November, that's the one that rains the most, and July on the other hand is the driest.
