Oregon whitewater, Clackamas River

Clackamas county, Collawash River to Three Lynx Power Station section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The beautiful scenery of Oregon and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This is a pretty
decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. The river winds through the Central Cascade Range and you get great scenery.
If you're coming from Hood River it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you
want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.

Briefly about the general area:
There's great hiking along the Bagby Trail; hiking is a popular thing to do around Clackamas River; Cold Spring Trail is a splendid local trail. Yeah, come up here to the Central Cascade Range for a splendid time. Clackamas River regularly gets a great deal of rain. Of all the months in a year December is the one with the most rain, and July meanwhile is the driest month. Summer at Clackamas River arrives with high temperatures in the 70's.
