The starting location is a short drive from Coos Bay, as you can see on the road map further down. The river winds through the Coast Ranges and you get great scenery. This stretch of Coquille River - South Fork in Coos County is 5.5 miles long and is a     class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Myrtle Grove Camp Ground to Milepost 3 section is just one of them. The wonderful Coos County scenery and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if   you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike along the Mountain Wells Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. Coquille Myrtle Grove State Park is a good place to stop by on a lovely day, and do put some time aside to spend at Elk Creek Falls while you're here at Coquille River - South Fork. This river has so much to offer. Hoffman Memorial State Park is both wonderful and beautiful, and it's close to Coquille River - South Fork, and you'll meet a lot of people from Powers here.
