The Wickiup Dam to Pringle Falls stretch of Deschutes River in Deschutes County is 9 miles long and it is classified as a class I-IV section by American Whitewater. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Oregon     is often tougher than elsewhere, so better not forget that many runs in this state are not easy. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. The beautiful Central Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. The starting location is a short drive from Bend, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There are plenty of   other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Briefly about the general area: Some magnificent nature is available in Pringle Falls Experimental Forest; you can go for a hike on the Lucky Lake Trail. If you want a tremendous time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Central Cascade Range. Lots of folks from La Pine come to Deschutes River, and don't leave without popping by LaPine State Recreation Area. This is such a wonderful river. If you want to stop by some interesting stuff, stop by Bull Bend. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Mt.
