The wonderful Deschutes County scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Oregon tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. This stretch |
is short so no need to bring snacks. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but you'd better reserve
| in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Benham Falls to Dillon Falls stretch is just one of many. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.

since you're here at Deschutes River; folks from Bend love to come here. A tour to Deschutes River wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Dillon Falls. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Swampy Lakes Trail,
and a short tour to Benham Falls is always worthwhile. Tumalo State Park is a splendid site to have a look at on a beautiful day. Deschutes River is a location that is pretty dry generally. For the duration of December this
area sees the most snow while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Deschutes River, and the nighttime is somewhat chillier of course, generally in the 40's.
