The Dillon Falls to Lava Island Falls section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. This is a short paddling stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. This stretch of Deschutes River is 2.5 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: There are plenty of people from Bend here at Deschutes River. Upper Falls Deschutes   River is an inspiring spot to stop by while here, and Deschutes River is right by the Swampy Lakes Trail. At this river you will never have a bad time. You need to pop by Lava Island if you're here at Deschutes River, and don't leave Deschutes River without first paying a visit to Dillon Falls. Deschutes River is next to Pilot Butte State Park which is a gorgeous spot. Tumalo State Park is both magnificent and striking, and it's in the neighborhood of Deschutes River. At Deschutes River you don’t see much precipitation. December is when you get the most snow here, and the driest month is July.
