The scenic beauty of Oregon and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Oregon are harder than the national norm, so don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. The starting point is not too far from City of The Dalles, as you can see on the     road map further down. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so it looks like you will be camping out. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: Deschutes River Recreation Area is both good and gorgeous, and it's   in close proximity to Deschutes River; there are plenty of folks from City of The Dalles here. When you're here at Deschutes River it's always fun to stop at White River Falls State Park; the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Mutton Mountain Spring. This river is always fun. You might want to pay a visit to Lousey Hollow since you're here at Deschutes River. Throughout the summertime months at Deschutes River temperatures are mostly in the 80's while night lows are commonly in the 40's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Deschutes River.
