If you're coming from Lewiston it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The Boggan's Oasis to Snake River section of Grande Ronde River is 27 miles long and is a class II-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater     rafting and kayaking spots in Oregon are harder than the national norm, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. There's camping available near Grande Ronde River. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Boggan's Oasis to Snake River stretch is one of them. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a   large number of paddling rivers. Briefly about the general area: Hiking is a popular thing to do around Grande Ronde River; Cottonwood Creek Trail is a fine local trail. Here at Grande Ronde River there are plenty of folks from Anatone, and visiting Fields Spring State Park is a delightful thing to do. This is such a wonderful river. Since you're here at Grande Ronde River why not go to Garden Gulch. Grande Ronde River is a location that is pretty dry frequently. Of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain while July is frequently the driest month. Throughout the summertime at Grande Ronde River temperatures are regularly in the 80's.
