The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Eugene-Springfield, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The average Oregon whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The nature scenery of Oregon and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. This |
section of Hills Creek in Lane County is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV section. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. If you're a camper you can camp
| at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The river winds through the | |
|
Central Cascade Range and you get great scenery. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came.
Briefly about the general area: A spree to Willamette National
Forest when you're here at Hills Creek is never a bad idea, and you can have a magnificent hiking adventure along the Kitson Ridge Trail. Whohoo, so many enjoyable things in one place! The Central Cascade Range rules! Hills
Creek is not far at all from Oakridge, and hiking along the Gobel Creek Trail is delightful fun. Coming to this river is always a good idea. Summertime highs at Hills Creek generally tend to be in the 80's with overnight lows in the 50's.
