The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Brookings, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so it looks like you will be camping out. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system,     the Miami Bar to Oak Flat section is one of them. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The river winds through the Coast Ranges and you get great scenery. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of   people coming here. The beautiful scenery of Oregon and the water flowing gracefully down Illinois River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Briefly about the general area: Hiking along the Illinois River Trail is perfect fun, and of course, everyone loves Siskiyou National Forest. Yeah, come up here to the Coast Ranges for a perfect time. Going for a hike along the Bear Camp Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. Deadman Bar is close to Illinois River and is a good spot. All through the summer at Illinois River temperatures are generally in the 70's.
