Oregon whitewater, Klamath River

Klamath county, JC Boyle Dam to Powerhouse section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS IV+     5 miles
The natural beauty of Klamath County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The campgrounds here at Klamath River are pretty good. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you
coming back for more. The JC Boyle Dam to Powerhouse section of Klamath River is 5 miles long and is a class IV+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on
an afternoon. When you're paddling down a Southern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a pretty small number of paddling places. The put-in is not too far from Klamath Falls, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the JC
Boyle Dam to Powerhouse stretch is just one of many. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.

Briefly about the general area:
You simply should stop by Big Bend if you're here at Klamath River; at Klamath River you always meet someone from Keno. So many enjoyable things to do in the Southern Cascade Range, not sufficient time. Have a good hiking adventure along the South Pass Lake Trail, and going for a hike along the Moss Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity.
