Oregon whitewater, Lake Creek

Lane county, Deadwood Creek to Siuslaw River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II-IV     5.5 miles

This is an excelent play runfrom 10.5 feet on up. Some real world class waves. Try to go on a weekday to avoid the crowds. Says Rob M

The nature scenery of Lane County and the water flowing gracefully down Lake Creek make the trip here worthwhile. The starting location is a short drive from Corvallis, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This section of Lake Creek in Lane County is 5.5 miles
long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-IV section. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon
trip. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because
it is a very popular destination. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. There's camping available near Lake Creek. The beauty of the Coast Ranges is a great plus for this river.

Briefly about the general area:
A visit to Lake Creek wouldn't be complete without taking a look at The Horn; Lake Creek is not far at all from Swisshome. There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Coast Ranges. Lake Creek sees pretty high levels of rain. The month with most of the rain is December, and the driest month of the year is July.
