Oregon whitewater, Layng Creek

Lane county, Rujada Campground to Wildwood Falls section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS IV     5 miles
This section of Layng Creek is 5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV section of whitewater. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Eugene-Springfield, as you can see on the road map further down. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. The wild scenery of the Central Cascade Range is great. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river
system, there are a few others too. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. The wonderful Oregon scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. There are campgrounds
quite near the river where you can camp. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here
don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving.

Briefly about the general area:
If the weather is fine here at Layng Creek, you can go for a hike along the Teeter Creek Loop, and Layng Creek is a place with many visitors from Culp Creek. Yep, outdoors enjoyable stuff truly is plentiful here in the Central Cascade Range. Going to Dexter State Park in close proximity to Layng Creek is a good thing to do; on a tremendous day you can take a hike along the Silica Trail. This river is so wonderful. A tour to Lowell State Park when you're here at Layng Creek is never a bad idea.
