The 2.5 miles above Blue River to Blue River stretch of Lookout Creek in Oregon is 2.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV section. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The average Oregon whitewater rafting or kayaking     river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. When you're paddling down   a Central Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The scenic beauty of Oregon and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: There are plenty of folks from Blue River here at Lookout Creek, and there's tremendous hiking along the Frissell Point Trail. You truly ought to go for the Central Cascade Range. Willamette National Forest is a nice place to stretch your legs a bit; don't leave Lookout Creek without first going for a hike along the Gold Hill Trail.
