Oregon whitewater, Mohawk River Lane county, Mohawk River Road to Hileman Road section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III     5.8 miles   This section of Mohawk River is 5.8 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The nature scenery of Oregon and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. The starting location is a short drive from Albany-Lebanon, as you can see on the road map further down. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations     you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The river winds through the Central Cascade Range and you get great scenery. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here   are less forgiving. The Mohawk River Road to Hileman Road section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. Briefly about the general area: At Mohawk River you always meet someone from Marcola, and Jasper State Park is a delightful location to stretch your legs a bit. And if that's not sufficient there's plenty more entertaining stuff to do in the Central Cascade Range. When you're here at Mohawk River it's always fun to check out Elijah Bristow State Park. All through the days of summer at Mohawk River temperatures are frequently in the 80's while night lows are regularly in the 50's.
