Oregon whitewater, Roaring River

Clackamas county, Road 4611 to Roaring River Campground section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III-IV     3 miles
This stretch of Roaring River in Oregon is 3 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you're coming from Hood River it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep
in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. This is a bit of a short stretch so no need to bring snacks. The wonderful Oregon scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons
enough to come here and paddle. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. There aren’t any hotels right nearby
but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. When you're paddling down a Central Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too.

Briefly about the general area:
If you feel like a little side trip, try The Narrows, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Dry Ridge Trail. All the outdoors enjoyable things in the Central Cascade Range will keep you coming back repeatedly. If the weather is fine here at Roaring River, you can go for a hike along the Fanton Plaza Trail.
