The wonderful Jackson County scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. The Above Nugget Falls to Gold Hill Boat Ramp section of Rogue River in Oregon is 2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-IV section of whitewater. The starting point is not too far from Medford, as you can see on the road map further down. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number |
of paddling places. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the
| rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. This stretch is short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The river winds | |
|
through the Siskiyou Mountains and you get great scenery.
Briefly about the general area: If you're here, you might as well have a look at Water Gulch; Rogue River is not far at all from Gold Hill. That right
there is a heap of enjoyable things already but it goes on, the Siskiyou Mountains has it all. Rogue River is near Valley of the Rogue State Park which is a pretty place; Dillon Falls is a striking site to stop by while
you're at Rogue River. This river is so good. During the months of summer at Rogue River temperatures are commonly in the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's.
