Oregon whitewater, Sandy River

Clackamas county, Marmot Dam to Revenue Bridge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III-IV     6.5 miles
Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Oregon is often tougher than elsewhere, so better not forget that rivers here are less forgiving. If you're coming from Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The scenic beauty of Clackamas County and the water flowing gracefully down Sandy River make the trip here worthwhile. The campgrounds here at Sandy River are
pretty good. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This section is long enough to enjoy
a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. When you're paddling down a Central Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This river system is full of great paddling sections,
the Marmot Dam to Revenue Bridge section is just one of them. The Marmot Dam to Revenue Bridge section of Sandy River in Clackamas County is 6.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section.

Briefly about the general area:
Going for a hike along the Fanton Plaza Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region. At Sandy River you always meet someone from Sandy, and George W. Joseph State Park is a beautiful spot any time of year. This is such a great river. Have a tremendous hiking adventure along the Eagle Creek Cutoff. Bridal Veil Falls State Park is a good site to stop at.
