The scenic beauty of Marion/ Linn County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. Some people prefer whitewater     rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The beautiful Central Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Packsaddle Park to Mill City section is just one of them. This stretch of Santiam River - North is 8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III+ section. There aren’t any hotels right   nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: Take a hike on the Snow Peak Mill City Trail; sites like North Santiam State Park are fine to pop by. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable things in the Central Cascade Range. You'll meet a lot of folks from Mill City here; Santiam River - North is right by the Crabtree Lake Trail. This river is a great place to visit. The high level of rainfall makes Santiam River - North a rather wet place.
