Oregon whitewater, Sharps Creek

Lane county, 7 mi above Layng Ck confluence section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II-III     7 miles
The 7 mi above Layng Ck confluence section of Sharps Creek is 7 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Eugene-Springfield, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others
too. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. The river winds through the Central Cascade Range and you get great scenery. You can pitch a tent or
park your RV at a nearby campground. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here
do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The beautiful scenery of Oregon and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle.

Briefly about the general area:
Everybody loves Lowell State Park, and there is a delightful hiking trail nearby called the Teeter Creek Loop. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Central Cascade Range. A visit to Dexter State Park invigorates the spirit; you'll most likely meet some people from Culp Creek here. Coming to this river is always a good idea. On a great day at Sharps Creek you can take a hike along the Silica Trail.
