The average Oregon whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so you'd better     keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The nature scenery of Douglas County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There's camping available near Steamboat Creek. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. The beautiful Central Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. A bit of exercise and just   hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the City Creek to Steamboat Falls stretch is one of them. Briefly about the general area: Steamboat Falls is a wonderful local attraction, and you definitely have to go to Clyde Holliday State Park if you're here. If you come to this river you will have a good time for sure. Through the days of summer highs here at Steamboat Creek reach the 70's, and all through the night it cools down to the 40's.
