The Canyonville Park to Lawson Bar section of Umpqua River - South is 5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The starting point is not too far from Roseburg, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Oregon you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. |
The nature scenery of Oregon and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is a pretty decent
| length section, it's good length for a morning trip. The wild scenery of the Coast Ranges is great. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Canyonville Park to Lawson Bar section is just one of them. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers | |

Briefly about the general area: During your journey to Umpqua River - South you'll meet some people from Canyonville for sure;
there is a good hiking trail nearby called the Grayback Trail. Be careful coming to the Coast Ranges, you might not ever wanna go back home again. On a nice day at Umpqua River - South you can take a hike along the South
Fork Trail. A large amount of precipitation falls at Umpqua River - South. Most of the rain falls during December while July is generally the driest month.
