If you're coming from Astoria it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling rivers. This section of Wilson River in Oregon is 16.6 miles long and     it is classified as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Oregon you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. The Coast Ranges scenery is wonderful. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're   willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: During your trip to Wilson River you'll meet some people from Tillamook for sure. Munson Creek State Park is a good site to stretch your legs a bit. Summertime highs at Wilson River usually tend to be in the 60's, and the night is a bit colder of course, generally in the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are usually in the 50's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Wilson River. Wilson River sees pretty high levels of rainfall.
