Pennsylvania whitewater, Big Cove Creek Fulton county, T379 to Licking Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-III     12 miles   The T379 to Licking Creek stretch of Big Cove Creek is 12 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III section. The beautiful scenery of Pennsylvania and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. The starting location is a short drive from Hagerstown-Martinsburg,     please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Pennsylvania is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the T379 to Licking Creek section is one of them. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but   if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: There's nice hiking along the Pittman Trail; there are plenty of people from Big Cove Tannery here. The Lockard Trail offers hiking at its best. Throughout the long summer days at Big Cove Creek temperatures are generally in the 80's while night lows are commonly in the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are typically in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Big Cove Creek are in the 10's. A normal amount of rainfall falls here at Big Cove Creek. All through the month of May you get the most rain around here; January meanwhile is the driest month.
