The put-in is not too far from State College, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states,     so you'd better keep in mind that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you won't find a large number of other places. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Briefly about the general area: Dry Hollow is a great spot to spend some time at, and do take a hike on the Short Trail. People from Moshannon love to come to Black Moshannon Creek, and you can have a tremendous hiking adventure along the Old Huckleberry Trail. This river is so good. Lots of rainfall falls at Black Moshannon Creek. The wettest month of the year is frequently June, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month of the year is January.
