The natural beauty of Pennsylvania and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. A good workout and     a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This section is very short so better bring some good walking shoes. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers   for that. The Rockingham to Clear Shade stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Briefly about the general area: Dark Shade Creek is right by the Wolf Rocks Trail, and folks from Central City love to come here. The Old '56' Trail offers hiking at its best. Dark Shade Creek gets a common amount of annual rain. All through the month of July you get the most rain around here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. For the duration of the summertime months at Dark Shade Creek temperatures are regularly in the 70's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's.
