Pennsylvania whitewater, Elk Creek Sullivan county, Lincoln Falls to Loyalsock Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     4.7 miles   The Lincoln Falls to Loyalsock Creek section of Elk Creek in Pennsylvania is 4.7 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Sullivan County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling     trip. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. If you're coming from Sayre it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down   the page. Briefly about the general area: Worlds End State Park is a great spot to go if you're at Elk Creek, and don't leave Elk Creek without first paying a visit to Lincoln Falls. If you wish for a little side journey, try Painter Hollow; close by you find the Middle Hill Trail which is a perfect hiking trail. Lots of fun awaits you along this river. The great people of Hillsgrove like to hang out close by, and there is a good hiking trail close by called the Trout Hill Trail. During the warm months at Elk Creek highs are typically in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 60's.
