  The wonderful Pennsylvania scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. The Route 98 to Lake Erie section of Elk Creek in Erie County is 13 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. The starting location is a short drive from Erie, as you can see on the road
    map further down. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might
end up sleeping in your car. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your camp stove. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners.

Here at Elk Creek you'll probably meet some folks from Girard. Through the warmest time of the year at Elk Creek temperatures are commonly in the 70's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's.
