The wonderful Pennsylvania scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Pennsylvania is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that rivers in this state are less demanding.     On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. The Francis Walters Dam to White Haven stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. Lodging is available near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The put-in location is a short drive from Scranton—Wilkes-Barre, as you can see on the road map further down. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Briefly   about the general area: Lehigh River is in the vicinity of Hickory Run State Park which is a beautiful location; this is a popular spot for people from White Haven. Don't leave Lehigh River without first checking out Devils Elbow; you can go for a hike on the Boulder Field Trail. This river is always fun. You beyond doubt must go to Lehigh Gorge State Park if you're here at Lehigh River; the skiing at Jack Frost is great. Don't leave Lehigh River without first going for a hike along the Choke Creek Trail. Summertime highs at Lehigh River frequently tend to be in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's.
