  The wonderful Carbon / Lehigh / Northhampton / Monroe County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The starting location is a short drive from Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Pennsylvania tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that many runs in this state are very easy. A bit of
    exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
There's camping available near Lehigh River. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here. A stretch of this length does require some preparations, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Pennsylvania Route 435 to Canal Park Allentown stretch is just one of many. This section of  
Lehigh River in Pennsylvania is 82.1 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-III section of whitewater.

Briefly about the general area:
Gotta ski! Blue Mountain is a magnificent site to do that, and Big Pocono State Park is a great place to go. Hiking along the Indian Trail is wonderful fun, and obviously, everyone loves Beltzville State Park. This is a great river. Take a hike on the Camelback Trail, and there are plenty of folks from Kunkletown here. The high level of precipitation makes Lehigh River a reasonably wet place. The month with most of the rain is August, and the driest month is February.
