The starting point is not too far from Johnstown, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The beautiful scenery of Cambria County and the water flowing gracefully down Little Conemaugh River make the trip here worthwhile. There aren’t     any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Pennsylvania is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The Lilly to Portage section is one of many paddling sections   in this river system. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. Briefly about the general area: If the weather is good here at Little Conemaugh River, you can go for a hike along the Lost Turkey Trail. Blue Knob State Park is worth taking a look at if you're at Little Conemaugh River; on a wonderful day you can take a hike along the John P Saylor Trail. This is such a great river. Little Conemaugh River is not far at all from Cassandra, and charming scenery and delightful skiing is what you acquire at Blue Knob. All the water falling down from the sky makes Little Conemaugh River a wet place.
