  The nature scenery of Pennsylvania and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. The average Pennsylvania whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. The starting point is not too far from Scranton—Wilkes-Barre, as you can see on the road map further down.
    You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are campgrounds quite
near the river where you can camp. The Stony Brook to Mehoopany stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. The Stony Brook to Mehoopany section of Mehoopany Creek in Pennsylvania is 12.1 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.  
Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers.

Briefly about the general area:
Near Mehoopany Creek you find the Old Bulldozer Road Trail which is a nice hiking trail. If you're visiting Mehoopany Creek from Mehoopany, you won't be the only one; close by you find Bowman Hollow which is a glorious place to explore. The surroundings of this river have so much to offer. High temperatures at Mehoopany Creek during the warm months are in the 80's; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 30's; night lows in the 10's for Mehoopany Creek.
