Pennsylvania whitewater, Pine Creek Allegheny county, Allison Park to Etna section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     6.5 miles   We did a short section, On Easter last. We plan to make it an annual event, from the intersection of Sample and Bryant Rd, to St. Ursla's church and Fire hall near corner of Duncan and Mt. Royal Blvd. We dragged a couple of times but it was amazing what you see from the creek, geese, wild turkey, and deer.  Nice little morning trip to get ready for regular canoe season. The Allison Park to Etna stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river   tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners. There are many good hotels to choose from, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon.
