Pennsylvania whitewater, Pine Creek Tioga county, Ansonia to Blackwell section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     6 miles   If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. The put-in is not too far from Lock Haven, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Ansonia to Blackwell stretch of Pine Creek is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater     to be a class I-II section. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The wonderful Tioga County scenery and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. Briefly about the general area: The best way to spend a   winter day is on the slopes of nearby Ski Sawmill, and tremendous hiking is available along the Pine Trail. Leonard Harrison State Park is a wonderful site any time of year, and Pine Creek is not far at all from Wellsboro. This is a really good river. Go for a hike on the Dillon Trail. The annual precipitation here at Pine Creek is about average. For the period of June this area sees the most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest. Summertime highs at Pine Creek regularly tend to be in the 70's, and the night is a bit cooler of course, ordinarily in the 50's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Pine Creek.
