Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Pennsylvania tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The wonderful Pennsylvania scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile.
    The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near.
The SR 160 to Quemahoning Dam section of Quemahoning Creek in Somerset County is 3.62 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is a bit of a short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. The SR 160 to Quemahoning Dam section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots  
for that. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.

Briefly about the general area:
The skiing at The Springs at Laurel Mountain is wonderful, and going for a hike along the Spruce Run Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. If you're dropping by Quemahoning Creek from Boswell, you won't be the only one, and hiking along the East End Trail is delightful fun. A river like this is too good to miss. A common amount of precipitation falls here at Quemahoning Creek. The wettest month of the year is frequently July, that's the one that rains the most, and February is the month with the least moisture.
