  The Rt 160 Bridge to confluence with Shade Creek stretch of Roaring Fork in Pennsylvania is 1.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV section. The nature scenery of Pennsylvania and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Rt 160 Bridge to confluence with Shade Creek section is one of them. There are plenty of hotels
    here if you want to spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. No matter if
you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Pennsylvania you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding.

The Old '56' Trail is a good hiking trail close to Roaring Fork; this is a popular location for people from Windber. There is a fine hiking trail in the vicinity of Roaring Fork called the Wolf Rocks Trail. Roaring Fork gets a typical amount of annual rainfall. Most of the rain falls all through July while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Through the summer at Roaring Fork highs are regularly in the 80's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and throughout the dark hours in the winter at Roaring Fork temperatures plunge to the 10's.
